Marblized Shmarblized

We, as well as other fashion media outlets, have talked about the return of the marblized wash. Although it's not all over the place, it is a viable trend and has started to evolve. We've already seen one variation (ie tie-dyed jeans). Here are some other options as seen at Magic Las Vegas last month. Bleach splatters were outrageous and over the top, especially on black denim. Even more interesting was the streaky, vertical effect.

Must Wear.... at SXSW Part II

5) Must wear jumpers. Onesies, overalls and dresses; event-goers were rocking it out in jumpers of all styles. And when the traditional look wasn't available, fake it with suspenders.

6) Must wear denim on top. Denim jackets and shirts are set to make a mainstream comeback and SXSWers just added a period to that statement.

7) Must wear flirty skirts. Unapologetically flirty, super feminine dresses and skirts were a surprisingly light edition to all the hard core denim seen throughout festival.

8) Must wear 80's style, acid-washed, brightly colored, above the knee, pencil skirts! Or shorts.

From New York Mag's Look Book

As seen in New York Magazine, this self-professed 80's lover,  hand-studded a pair of brown jeans. Pretty cool.

Must Wear.... at SXSW

1) Must wear cuffs. Each year every music festival has a trend that is specific to that particular event. For SXSW this year, it was the cuff. There were cuffs galore. Cuff low, cuff high, cuff fancy and best of all, cuff with throwback canvas keds.

Through the Lens of the Sartorialist: Denim Street Scenes: NY Fashion Week

The Sartorialist perused the streets of New York during Fashion Week capturing with his famed camera the looks that were happening off the runway. Check out what we thought was the best in denim.

1. There's no doubt that ripped, shredded and torn jeans are making a strong comeback. There's something about skin peeking through ragged tears, placed in 'strategic' locations, that provides an injection of sex appeal. As an alternative, bleached out spots on indigo give a similar effect and over time will shred perfectly.

2. If you're like the rest of us than you're sooo over excessively baggy jeans on men, however, don't discount this look just yet. Straight legged, abraded jeans that are cuffed at the bottom are a fresh take on this look for both men and women.

3.  The jean jacket and the denim shirt. What can we say. They never really go away, but when they're not in fashion they're relegated to 'knock-around clothes' status. Here they are, fashionably worn as a layered piece and you know what? We kinda like it.

DenimHunt on Facebook

Picture 5 We get emails all the time from people that have specific questions about denim; whether it's about a certain style or specific brand, or what's the best fit for a particular body type. We read every single one and it never ceases to amaze us how knowledgeable our readers are and how serious they are in expanding that knowledge. As we all know, denim has moved beyond workwear apparel into a full blown lifestyle that has its own, dare I say it, culture. The plethora of styles, washes and finishings available are mind-blowing and while some pairs may break the bank, the workmanship that goes into producing them justify the price. Even those few holdouts that turned their noses up at the price tag when premium jeans became the standard several years ago have become true believers, thanks to that all important characteristic that you only get in the finest pair of jeans...fit

Now that we've had a moment on our soapbox we'd like to introduce you to our new DenimHunt Facebook Group. Okay, okay so it's not that new, but we've been so busy trying to keep you updated on the latest and greatest in the industry that we haven't had time to tell you about it. We would like this group to be a forum where you can talk with other denim aficionados from around the world. As much as we like to think of ourselves as the go-to-people for the best information in denim, the best source is you guys and your word-of-mouth. Post pictures, start discussions, let your fellow denimhunters know what's going on in your neck of the woods. Look for the link on the left to join. We hope you have fun and enjoy it.

Deep Purple

We all know that purple has reemerged as THE must-have color. Well it's also making an impact on denim as well, as seen on the runway for Spring 09. What's really interesting is it's predominance in menswear.

Look of the Day

Sart

When we are feeling less than inspired, we always head over to our friends at the Sartorialist. Here is today's reason why...a great example of the right way to wear wide leg denim. Most women on the shorter side find this trend to be challenging, but pairing it with a taller shoe and a shorter jacket is best. The color combination matches all the right tones for a style that is right on!

DenimHunt.com Party Photos!

Thank you to everyone at Diesel, Hennessy, Belvedere, NYLON, and Don Hill's for all their support of last night's DenimHunt.com launch party.  The Ruff Kids did an amazing job with the tunes and the drinks kept flowin'. As we were too busy mingling (and dancing,) we had our favorite photog, Brad Walsh, snap some pics. Enjoy!

Diesel wall project

Thanks to our buddies over at Cool Hunting for the tip. Diesel has selected the winners of their wall project. With over 1,000 entries, we can't even imagine what a task it was to narrow the group down to a select four to be named winners, but luckily they found a very qualified panel which included Diesel's creative director, Wilbert Das, to do so.

If you're in Milan, Beijing, Copenhagen, or Toronto keep your eyes open for these large works falling under the theme of "I Could Be Yours."
