NP Set Creates Denim-Inspired Cosmetics

Picture 2

NP Set, the hollywood-based cosmetics company, founded by Australian make-up artist Napolean Perdis, has come up with one of the freshest ideas in cosmetics we've seen in a while. It's called the Denim Fashion Palette

It's geared toward the girl that is more alternative rock as opposed to mainstream although we think this idea will catch on with girls of all genres. Indigo, tangerines, pinks and browns work together to create an eye-catching combination of color made to compliment you in your fave denim. Not to mention, the compact is so cool you'll want to refresh your make-up constantly to show it off.

The Denim Fashion Palette retails for $29 and comes with a step-by-step guide on how to go from day to night. It's available online or at select retailers.

Cutting Costs With Denim

Here is an interesting bit of information that was brought to our attention;

With many American families closely watching their household budgets, a new wardrobe each season is no longer a given. According to the Lifestyle Monitor survey, 64% of respondents noted that they have less this year to spend on clothing than last. In order to help your family save on clothing expenses, Cotton Incorporated has put together a series of informative web videos that help consumers get the most out of the fabric.

In the latest webisode, product expert Norma Keyes shares her insight on denim, discussing how the versatile fabric has long been a standard of one’s wardrobe. Norma not only focuses on the affordability of denim, but how denim remains a wardrobe staple. From comfort to style, Norma traces why denim is popular and relevant year in and year out.

Finally, Norma gives a sneak peek at the future of denim – a water repellant technology  that is perfect for recent rainy days. Alexander Wang actually used this technology, called STORM Denim (TM), to great success.

Recently, there was a post on New York Magazine's online Fashion blog The Cut questioning whether the denim vest was a valid trend. It was in response to a trend alert on Fabsugar, who obtained this photo of Kate Bosworth sporting one; and quite well if you ask us. Our response...Yes

Acne Fine Jewelry

Ti087518_08

Remember when Diesel launched a fine jewelry line last Fall? Well, it looks like they may have started a new trend. it seems Acne has teamed up with jewelry designer Michael Zobel to create a collection of pieces for Fall 09. The collection includes rings, brooches and pendants; chunky with a distinctly hand-crafted look. Most of the pieces were present on the models during Acne's presentation at Fashion Week By Bern.

Ellesse is Calling All Artist for the CREATE TENNIS ART Competition

CREATE_TENNIS_ART
Ellesse is celebrating its 50th anniversary by kicking off a design competition CREATE TENNIS ART with uber cool illustrator and typographer Si Scott as part of the jury. The iconic Italian sportswear brand is now unveiling two new collaborations, with textile print superstar Kate Gibb and Greek animation genius Babis Alexiadis.

Kate, an internationally renowned silk screen artist that has worked for the likes of Dries Van Noten, Stussy and Adidas, created a silk screen print influenced by vintage images of tennis players. Babis, an award winning animator who has created pieces for the likes of BBC, created a quirky animation featuring hand-stitched characters which took over 100 hours to create.

The deadline to enter the competition is May 10th’. All you have to do is create a piece of art or design to commemorate the ellesse 50th anniversary inspired by the brand’s Italian heritage and sporting roots in tennis. You could win €4,500 and be sent to the ellesse 50th anniversary event this summer in Rome where your work will be on display. An opportunity you shouldn’t miss...
The categories for the competition range from fashion and textiles, right through to fine art, sculpture, street art, graphics and digital.

Must Wear.... at SXSW Part II

5) Must wear jumpers. Onesies, overalls and dresses; event-goers were rocking it out in jumpers of all styles. And when the traditional look wasn't available, fake it with suspenders.

6) Must wear denim on top. Denim jackets and shirts are set to make a mainstream comeback and SXSWers just added a period to that statement.

7) Must wear flirty skirts. Unapologetically flirty, super feminine dresses and skirts were a surprisingly light edition to all the hard core denim seen throughout festival.

8) Must wear 80's style, acid-washed, brightly colored, above the knee, pencil skirts! Or shorts.

Must Wear.... at SXSW

1) Must wear cuffs. Each year every music festival has a trend that is specific to that particular event. For SXSW this year, it was the cuff. There were cuffs galore. Cuff low, cuff high, cuff fancy and best of all, cuff with throwback canvas keds.
